The most beautiful feast in the book...

The most sublime feast in the liturgical year. Keen observers will note that in the above image (Google Books: Missale Romanum, Antwerp, 1576) the conclusion of the collect differs from later editions.

Readers are asked to remember in their prayers the repose of the soul of the Rev. Ronald de Poe Silk. It used to be one of this 'blog author's customs to join him in Cambridge every year for this great feast and after Mass have a decent festal lunch.

May his soul and the souls of countless faithful priests and persons who resisted novelty and invention rest in peace.
