What is the logic for the order of commemoration of occuring and concurring feasts at First Vespers of Sunday? For example, Our Lady of Mount Carmel is a greater double and St Henry is only a semidouble but at Vespers on Saturday, St Henry is commemorated before Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Why is that? If it weren't a Saturday (or Sunday), we would have First Vespers of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, and then commemoration of the preceding feast of St Henry. Why does it get reversed when these are just commemorations in the dominical office?
Since the changes of Leo XIII concurring Offices are always commemorated first, regardless of their rank. Before, as you suggest, commemorations were in order of rank.
The Saint Lawrence Press is dedicated to the preservation of the classical Roman Liturgy and seeks especially to raise awareness of the process of liturgical reform before the Second Vatican Council. To meet these aims the Saint Lawrence Press publishes an Ordo Recitandi, in Latin, modelled on those produced in Rome in the middle of the last century before the unpleasant,
unfortunate, and damaging, changes of the 1950's and early 1960's.
The Ordo Recitandi contains the necessary information enabling those who wish to celebrate the traditional Divine Office and Mass to identify those variable parts for every day in the Liturgical year.
