The Saint Lawrence Press is dedicated to the preservation of the classical Roman Liturgy and seeks especially to raise awareness of the process of liturgical reform before the Second Vatican Council. To meet these aims the Saint Lawrence Press publishes an Ordo Recitandi, in Latin, modelled on those produced in Rome in the middle of the last century before the unpleasant,
unfortunate, and damaging, changes of the 1950's and early 1960's.
The Ordo Recitandi contains the necessary information enabling those who wish to celebrate the traditional Divine Office and Mass to identify those variable parts for every day in the Liturgical year.

Just a question about the Ordo. I noticed that St. John Leonardi isn't included in the ordo for October 9. When was his feast made Universal? I do know he was canonized in 1938, which means his propers were composed sometime in 1939 and meaning it probably wouldn't be ready til the next year.

The propers were promulgated in AAS 32 (1940) with a decree signed by Cardinal Salotti dated 3rd April 1940 pp.311 seq.
Can you point me in the direction of a legend for the abbreviations in the Ordo? Love that this exists, just discovered it today. Looking forward to purchasing the print version of 2026!

Question why is St. Paulinus commemorated for the Sunday within the Octave of Corpus Christi. Ain't in Sundays occuring within Octaves: only the collects of the Sunday and of the Octave is commemorated?
Why is St. Paulinus commemorated on the Sunday within the Octave of Corpus Christi? I thought on Sundays occuring within Octaves, only 2 collects were said: of the Sunday and of the Octave.

On a Sunday within an Octave only the octave is commemorated and the orations that would be said within that octave, e.g, in the case of Corpus Christi Concede nos etc, omitted. However, occurring offices are commemorated.

Buenos Aires has a common octave for the feast of the Holy Trinity. So the Octave Day would fall on the Sunday within Corpus Christi. So would it be commemorations of - 2. Oct. Corpus. Christ., 3. St. Paulini, 4. Octave of Trinity, with Proper Last Gospel of Feast of the Holy Trinity?

Yes, your order of commemorations is correct. The last Gospel would be In principio unless your Octave-Day has a different Gospel than that of the feast sung last Sunday.

Thank you for your continued maintenance of this blog. I will be singing vespers this evening in Church along with high mass (also in the evening). In cases where there is an evening mass, does it matter if vespers are sung before or after the mass? I'd appreciate your thoughts, thank you.

You may not like what I write but I strongly disapprove of evening Mass. In the Roman rite Mass was celebrated after one of the Hours depending on the day being celebrated (private Masses after the celebrant had said Mattins and Lauds). Vespers was, traditionally, the start of the liturgical day, until the wreckovation started in 1955. Mass should, logically, always be celebrated before Vespers.
