Why does the feast of St. Joachim have the Creed and the Preface of the Assumption, although the Octave of the Assumption is not commemorated?

Because the commemoration of the Octave is considered to be omitted per accidens as the Mass of a D2Cl has the privilege of not having the commemoration of a day within a common Octave etc. The Octave is still there as the hymns of the Hours have the Doxology of the Incarnation etc. The Creed is therefore said following R.G. XI. Again, following the rules for prefaces as St. Joachim does not have a proper preface that of the Octave is sung.
